Hello Spy Story Friends!

How about an update? The good news here is, writing on Mission 3 is going GREAT! After a summer dry spell, the words have been raining down here at Spy H.Q. and it's looking like you'll have a new adventure to for your spring vacation. Right now, it's looking like I could be sending the 3rd novel in The Castle of Spies series to Amazon by the end of February!

It really is exciting times here at Spy H.Q. One of the most enjoyable parts of writing for me is the many golden nuggets of the story that just seem to magically appear out of nowhere. FAQ Time: While I have a fairly good idea of the general direction of the story, a lot of what happens from chapter to chapter just seems to pop up outta nowhere!

As I prepare to finish Section 4, (each book generally has four big sections with 2 shorter Prologue/Epilogues) I thought you might like a sample chapter … Mission Two ended with Léa kidnapped and Tara shot up by evil bad guys. It's been a bit of a dark time at The Castle, but things are looking up. The chapter you're getting today is number: 18. They've found Léa and this is the final briefing before they get the official "GO" from Alan Dennis. Our best friends are missing each other and the bad guys are being particularly evil. But with more stories to come, you know that …

Like the two Missions before, there is some fun, some spice, some adventure and some danger. In Mission 3, you'll read more about Janet and Helena, the previous generation of Castle Spies. The bad guys are being extra bad, but they'll get what's coming to them. At the end of Mission 3, we discover there is a much bigger plot afoot than just those two bad guys. That means you should expect at least three more books after this one! As we get closer to Mission 3's publication date, expect a few more of these updates and chapters. Here's a look at what's happening on the next spy story: Castle in the Mountains. It's Chapter 5, section 1. Léa and Tara have arrived in Chicago on the trail of the bad guys. The story is coming along nicely and should be on-line at Amazon & iTunes by December 1st, maybe even sooner! (BTW: Chapter 5 is the last chapter of what looks like a 100,000 word book).

I decided to share this small part of the story because it's what I call a "best friends moment". The Castle Spy Series is all about the adventures of several best friends. This part reveals a bit more about Léa and Tara. They may be super-spies, but they also have real life insecurities and pain. But they also share lots of fun. Along with the adventure, spy-craft and best friends thing, The Castle Spy Series is all about fun.

So, I hope you enjoy this small part of the story. If you haven't read the first book, Castle on the Island, now might be a good time to snag it for your book shelf before the second novel is out. "Island" is on Amazon as either an ebook or paperback. It's an ebook on iTunes. Links to the first book are on the right side of this page.

You'll read about Léa and Tara getting "plowed" back at The Castle. The next excerpt might be our two super-spies waking up with a super-hangover.

Beware … Tara makes frequent use of the 'f' word. Also, this is first draft material, so there are still more than a few rough edges.

A CASTLE, SOME GHOSTS, SOME SPIES & TWO BEST FRIENDS

Generations of kids from the small town of Stromness on a north Scottish Island knew the old castle was haunted. But best friends Léa and Tara didn’t believe in ghosts. When it was Léa's turn to spend the night in the old castle, she didn’t find ghosts, She found a nest of spies who’d been there since the Cold War. After enduring a grueling and sadistic initiation test, Léa and her friends get a major shock as they are welcomed into the The Castle by Tara.

The next day begins with a welcome to a spy school that more resembled a high tech concert. Just as soon as Spy School starts, Léa is reunited with her best friend Tara and they are sent to hunt down a traitor who's hacked the castles entire computer system. After a brief stop in Paris, Léa and Tara end up in Uppsala where their target is waiting for them and kidnaps Tara. After a single deadly shot from Léa's gun, the pair are chased through the narrow Uppsala streets on bicycles only to find themselves on a runaway train hurdling toward a final, fiery crash.
